Mahindra AFS – Where Ambitions Turn Into Reality!

It all began in 2011, the memory is fresh. I can still feel the goosebumps on my hand as I entered the majestic Mahindra plant. Passing by a body shop, where my interview was scheduled, I was amazed to see the huge robotic equipments.

Among the many things that were going on in my head, the only thing I could hear was my mind telling me “this is the place you should be in; this is where you are meant to build your career”.

The Journey

I started off as a trainee in Mahindra. My learning curve was as steep as it could be. The challenges and tasks thrown at me were huge but their novelty made it all the more interesting. I did not simply want to settle for a trainee, I wanted to be an officer and to do that, I had to prove my mettle.

I was assigned the XUV5OO transaxle platform when the product wasn’t even launched. It was a premium model and as an industrial engineer, I was provided with an opportunity to take care of it. What more could a fresh graduate ask for? A company like Mahindra is offering you an opportunity in the premium segment!

The Journey Got Bigger

In my second year at Mahindra, things truly got bigger for me. I was moved to a truck platform. I had to learn, unlearn and relearn. My third year at Mahindra AFS is what truly enabled me to shape my persona. My role allowed me to prove my abilities to the senior managers.

Year four gave wonderful opportunities to soar high. I had enough opportunities to grow, present, connect, and work hard. Another thing that keeps you going is appreciation. That is the one thing I have learned beautifully in this organisation. It could be as small as complementing when the team around you has done well. In tangible and in intangible ways, it raises your morale.

Consistent Guidance

Generally, the appreciation moves from the higher level to the lower level. However, Mahindra gives us a chance to thank our seniors too. You can give a thank you card to your peers, to your boss, or to your HOD for their constant support and guidance.

I truly believe that the leadership here is demand us to push our limits. They might be harsh or soft, but they are the ones who truly teach us and lead us to the path of success.

Strong Leadership

One thing I really like about the brand Mahindra is that it grows and it makes you grow with them. It binds your roots so strongly that your base is concrete. Our senior leadership is brilliant, be it Mr. Anand Mahindra himself or Dr. Pawan Goenka.  Whether it is Mr. P. N. Shah or our CEO Mr. Pankaj Sonalkar himself, they all create magic!

Even during tough and rugged times they come up with these amazing jargons like “Right to win” & ”Yeh Saal Humara Hai” which pumps an energy that pushes you an inch ahead to give your best. The BHAG (Big Heavy Audacious Goal) is the concept that is my personal favourite. If you keenly look at it, you get inspired by it and it can be applied in our personal lives too.
