Mahindra AFS: The Land of Opportunities!

Whenever I tell people that I have been in Mahindra for 20 years, they are taken aback by how long it has been! However, when you are learning something new every day and getting new opportunities at every step, who wouldn’t want to stay back?

Journey with Mahindra

During my last year of engineering, we had Mahindra on campus for placements. My batchmates and I were eager to join Mahindra. Even during those days, Mahindra was a household name.

From being a graduate trainee engineer in 1995 to being a Deputy General Manager in 2015, it has been a fulfilling and a rewarding journey! At every role, I felt empowered. With every new opportunity, I’ve had a greater learning. With every new mistake, I paved a new way to grow as a professional as well as an individual.

Experience in Manufacturing Industry

I have spent a long time in body shop manufacturing – learning all aspects of product, process, facility and manufacturing & quality system. In my current role, in central manufacturing engineering, I deal with new products as well as processes whilst specialising in the branch of industrial engineering. Along with that, I am also working as a coordinator for the Nagpur plant for all CME projects. I think I have been fortunate enough to be in a role wherein I explore and learn new things every single day.
amol-mahindra-afsI feel that majority of youngsters today have presumptions about the manufacturing industry. Let me tell you – manufacturing, as a working field, is as glorious as any other field. It is more than just manufacturing processes. It is about the joy of making breakthrough creations possible.
For me, manufacturing is about innovation. It is about new ideas. It is about feeling the pride when my efforts prove advantageous to the organisation.

Learning Opportunities

I believe if there’s one key skill that has carved my growth map over all these years, it is patience. I think people should realize that good things take time to shape. Speaking from my own experience, on the longer run, patiently charted road maps are always more rewarding than shortcuts. My experience with Mahindra AFS has been loaded with continuous learning opportunities. Gradually, I believe, I have mastered aspects to my job with an unwavering patience. I feel lucky to be one of the few employees who have been a part of Mahindra’s Emerging Leaders Programme (ELP). ELP is all about grooming a person into a better leader, and shaping him to take up higher responsibilities. It is all about asking ‘What’s next?’ and continue to keep moving upwards on the growth graph.

Sticking to the RISE philosophy, every single day at Mahindra is an opportunity to contribute to the organisation as well as the society. It is a platform for everyone to give in their best and RISE!
